Ala Mhigo is at last free from imperial rule, but that liberty may prove fleeting as the Empire moves to reclaim this bloodied nation and subjugate all of Eorzea.  In their hour of need, however, they cannot turn to the Warrior of Light.  Nor to the Scions, who yet slumber, their souls adrift.  The realm is left to struggle without its saviors, for they have been beckoned beyond time and space to the First.  Here a new adventure begins in a world where light ushers all unto oblivion.  But hope is not yet lost, for where there is light there is shadow.

Caution Concerning Use of Third Party Programs or Tools

As indicated in the Prohibited Activities in Final Fantasy XIV, use of third party programs or tools in FINAL FANTASY XIV is strictly prohibited, as they damage game balance and allow users to gain an unfair advantage over other players.

We have determined that a number of players are utilizing third party programs or tools. If you are found to have used such programs, your service account could face disciplinary measures. Additionally, there have been cases of malicious software being embedded in such programs, and users of such programs put themselves at risk of losing control of their character in-game, acquiring viruses, having personal information stolen, having their account compromised, and being the recipient of any number of harmful activities.

We would like all users to be able to play in a secure environment, and ask for your aid in adhering to our policies.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Yoshida Gets It - And We May Get Our Auction House

Naoki Yoshida, the new producer and director for Final Fantasy XIV, is not used to having his face in the media.  However, Square Enix has brought him in to save their latest MMO, and Yoshida is anxious to connect with the players and bring them what they want.  In an interview with Famitsu this week, he detailed the problems FFXIV has faced, and how he will work to repair them -- with the help of the player base.
