Anyone interested in getting a player group together for this?
After not liking Warhammer very much we returned to WoW for now.
However this looks like a cool place to run for a while.
Sandi and I will be looking into it and I will check back here to see if any one else wants to get on the same server when time comes.
In case you missed the link above here it is again LINK |

The skinny on FFXIV. I have never been so excited about the release of an MMO. I've been hyper ever since I saw the trailer a few days ago.
Yes, they have looked at insanely popular American MMOs like WoW and are committed to making the game more appealing to our market (i.e. something for both casual gamers and marathon addicts). The biggest thing missing from FFXI was solo content. The game was so community dependent, it was impossible to solo your way to level cap. This time, it will be different. They will be incorporating many innovations that people who quit FFXI early on never got to see, like the level-sync system which allows you to play with people of any level without exp-penalties. There will also be things they claim never seen before in any MMO.
This MMO has been almost five years in the making. SE never compromises their integrity when it comes to graphics quality and beautiful music. One thing that blew me away was the question regarding if the trailer shown was actual game play footage. Some scenes, like the combat, came straight out of the game.
This promises to be nothing short of amazing.

Final Fantasy XIV Online was revealed by Sony Entertainment at their Press Conference on June 2nd at the Shrine Theater in downtown Los Angeles and a trailer shown. It was announced that Hiromichi Tanaka will produce the game and Nobuaki Komoto will serve as director. Both worked on Final Fantasy XI Online. Nobuo Uematsu will return to score the music. The game will be set in the world of Eorzea and the trailers showed races similar to those seen in Final Fantasy XI as well as Chocobos.
An invite only press Q&A was held the next day with Hiromichi Tanaka and Nobuaki Komoto taking questions through an interpreter. Tanaka-san opened by clarifying the remarks made during the Sony Press Conference. Final Fantasy XIV Online will not be exclusive to the PS3, but will be released on the PS3 and PC platforms simultaneously. They are also considering all other options available to them at this time.
Q: What are the ties to the old races of FFXI?
Tanaka: The world of FFXIV is a different one from FFXI. The races look similar so that they will feel familiar to players of FFXI, but the world is a different world, and thus the races are also different.
Q: What’s going to happen to FFXI?
Tanaka: Development for FFXIV actually began about four or five years ago and has been developed along side FFXI. FFXI is still going strong after seven years and there are no plans to stop development of FFXI.
Q: What influence has more casual games such has World of Warcraft have had on FFXI?
Komoto: While we want to make sure our players see more casual game play, we will not be a WoW clone.
Q: What features from FFXI will carry over to FFIV? Will you keep the level sync system?
Komoto: Yes, many features of FFXI will be improved upon. We want to bring content for solo players and casual players as well as large party play from the beginning of the game.
Q: Will launch and servers be global?
Tanaka: Yes, we will launch simultaneously in all regions, in English, Japanese, German and French, on both the PS3 and PC platform. Whether we will continue to have global cross region / cross platform servers remains to be seen. Players tend to congregate and play with each other, so we may designate language preferred servers. But for now, they will remain the same as FFXI
Q: Will there be a Spanish version?
Tanaka: If we find that there are enough Spanish speaking people that want to play FFXIV in their native language, we will certainly consider it, but at this time, no. We have in house translators working closely with our Dev Team in house for the global launch. Any Spanish version at this time, we would have to start again from scratch.
Q: Will player requests have the same impact on FFXIV as they have on FFXI?
Komoto: Certainly, we think that the players’ voice is very important and we want to continue to get feedback from users. FFXIV like FFXI will be sensitive to what users want from the game.
Q: Are there any especial elements you want to import or improve from FFXI to FFXIV?
Komoto: Our goal from the beginning was to make the best Final Fantasy game possible (with each title).
Tanaka: We are implementing new systems (that cannot be revealed at this time) that other MMOs have not used in the past.
Q: Was the trailer shown actual game play footage?
Komoto: Parts of it was. Some parts were pre-rendered but others, like the combat were run on the game engine.
Komoto: FFXIV’s key word through out its development is Growth. FFXIV will have new in-game systems for character development as well as expanded job system. It is quite different from FFXI.
Tanaka: The Game system will provide the type of content that players want. FFXIV will be more than just party based. There is solo content, party content, content for those that just want to play 40 minutes a day and content for those that wish to play all day.
FFXIV is completely different from FFXI and as such, there won’t be any porting over of characters from FFXI to FFXIV, even though the character design is similar. We will not be using the playonline system but a new design.
We believe that players will fall in love with the story and world we have planned.
Brave words. Brave words indeed. So in short sentences. FFXIV is a different game but Square Enix is not yet prepared to provide more information. End story. Their official website is up. Check out the trailer at http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com |

I'll have to take a wait and see attitude for this one. I know SE will make a very good game with FFXIV with hardly any bugs and great mechanics, because that is what they do. But SE's customer service and GM service is horrible in FFXI and I will have to wait to see if it will be any better on FFXIV.
I have never played wow, but I have herd that if you have a problem, GM's are very helpful and resolve most problems. ON FFXI it is a complete nightmare , they just don't do anything, and because of that anything goes, and it makes some parts of the game unplayable.
Also SE has put in alot of programs to try and and curb RMT. Unfortunately these programs can"t tell the difference between good players and RMT. An example of this is if you sell so many materials to the npc per week you automatically go to jail, and Gm's won"t help you, so your account is now screwed and can"t play anymore. SE's Customer service won't help you either. So if you a good player just trying to farm and sell mats to npc for money your screwed.
ok enough venting lol |

| I'm planning on getting this for PS3 when it comes out. I've gone heavy into FFXI anagin since i got my wife to join in the fun. I will probably do the same thing for FFXIV when it comes out. PS3 version for me and PC version for her. Count me in if we are trying to get grouped together. Will have to figure out which server to all go on and whether or not it will let you choose one when you first start. As a side note: i am also getting AION when it comes out for my laptop if anyone is planning on getting that and wants to hook up in game. |

Just when I start complaining about SE they go and prove me wrong. This past month SE has revamped it's customer service and GM's are now so much friendlier and better. SE has now gone after the people who make bots and most of the best bots are now gone. (Still laughing at some people who bought the nasa bot for 3k and now doesn't work.)
I guess I'll have to take a peak at FFXIV, if they fix the problems of ffxi, it should be the best mmo ever ^^ |

Believe it or not I'm still around. Doubt anyone will read this but I'll more than likely pick this up first day.
If anyone is still around, post up your facebook, IM, email, w/e and maybe we can get something started. Take care kindred. I know there are some of you still out there! |

I left FFXI for couple months now
If the review of FFXIV is good and does not require as much time to grind, I will probably get it too |

Wow so many names from the past
Alto and Tris will both be playing and we are so looking forward to spending some time with all of you guys again.
I doubt we will be getting married again this game...(you guys remember how much fun that was?)
Being we did it in real life a few years ago.
If you want to register at my web site (bixies.com) and are not already a member I will be sure to approve anyone from here that wants to register.
There are a few discussions about the game and some nice news bots (Sonadon and Jonn) posting what they glean from the web regularly.
Anyway nice to see you guys are still kickin and looking forward to getting together with you all again real soon! |
