Hello, past and present Vana'dielians!
Sometimes it's hard to believe how time flies. This month marks the three year anniversary since this linkshell first came together. It's already been six months since the last FFXI expansion, Wings of the Goddess, was released.
I'm posting this for two reasons. The first is to touch base with our members and friends, to see what everyone has been up to. As happens with time, many of us have wandered off to different venues. I'm guilty of it as well, and I'll admit that my FFXI account is currently inactive. I'm sure many of you have noticed the news articles on the site haven't been updated in quite some time. I've been more involved in issues of importance irl, and finally broke down and tried World of Warcraft, so I could play that with my husband (for those of you who have inquired, Phab and I play on Scarlet Crusade, and my character name there is Rowyne).
However, FFXI is my first love, and I have no intention of letting my account become deleted. I do have plans of reactivating it.
The second reason I'm posting this is a bit more urgent. To the point, the domain name kindredlinkshell.com is set to expire this Wednesday, and the webspace itself will expire next month. I'm faced with the difficult decision of whether or not I should renew it. I realize that only a handful of people even carry Kindred linkpearls at this point, despite multiple attempts to revitalize the linkshell, but I will still gladly keep this website alive even just for contact and networking purposes, a haven for us to still visit from time to time. All I need to see is some interest.
Thank you for reading, and hope to hear from some old friends soon. |

I would love it if you could keep the website alive, I can honestly say I am one of the few who (or only one left) who still has a pearl. Besides I still have to finish off the history of ffxi ! I wil get it done someday lol
Also it would be nice to keep in touch with everyone! |

| I still have a pearl though it is stashed away in my MH and i still check in on the website too. I also still actually play FFXI even though it may be only 3-4 times a month now. |

Though you may not see many forums replies, I did receive an inbox full of emails about this. I wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming interest!
So, we're still here!
However, you'll notice I did streamline the website. I disabled the News module, because I'm just not involved enough anymore to post the latest breaking FFXI news every day. I'm hoping the Community Site Tool (the little rectangular java box on the top-front of the site) will do in its place.
Btw...to those who noticed the previous performance issues with the site, I've discovered and fixed the problem. The Gallery random screenshot block that used to be on the front page was clogging up the site and slowed it down to a crawl. Others have experienced this problem, but no fix has been found. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to remove it. But the Screenshot Gallery on its own is still fully functional.
Anyway...glad to see we have Kindred, past and present, who still want a home here. =D |
